The Simi Valley Track Club is a non-profit youth track & field and cross country organization that competes in the Ventura County Youth Track Conference (VCYTC) comprised of teams in Camarillo, Fillmore, Moorpark, Newbury Park, Ojai, Oxnard, Thousand Oaks and Ventura.

How old does my athlete have to be to join The Simi Valley Track Club?

The SVTC is open to all children grades 1st through 8th. Team assignments are strictly based on birth years as listed below.

Age groups for the upcoming 2019 T&F season are as follows;

  • Gremlins (GG, GB) Birth Years 2011-2012

  • Bantams (BG, BB) Birth Years 2009-2010

  • Intermediates * (IG, IB) Birth Year 2004

(Intermediate athletes may not compete in a High School Track Program.)

My athlete has never run track before. Should I be concerned?

No, the beauty of T&F (and Cross Country) is that every athlete competes regardless of talent and ability. Our coaching staff has years of experience coaching all levels of athletes and will coach your athlete to reach their full ability.

How do I know which event(s) my athlete will be good in?

We'll introduce your athlete to every event and they will get time to practice each event. It doesn't take long for an athlete to figure out which event(s) they like more than others.

What is the cost for my athlete to join?

It's $150 for your athlete to join the SVTC which includes a uniform, a team photo and year-end awards. There is a $25 discount for siblings. We also offer financial assistance if needed.

Additionally, each family, at registration, is required to give the SVTC a deposit check of $100 for volunteering. At the completion of the season, your deposit check will be either returned to you or shredded IF your volunteering hours have been met. If you were unable to fulfill your volunteering hours, the check will be deposited to help pay for the Simi Valley High School T&F athletes  we had to hire to help run track meets.

(We can't stress enough how important you volunteering is.)

We have a family event on one of the days of a track meet, do I still have to pay the full registration?

Yes. Unfortunately, we do not prorate registration fees.

What should my athlete bring to practice?

Proper training apparel is crucial and should be worn for all practices. This includes moisture wicking tops and shorts such as Nike or Under Armour. Proper training shoes are also critical to your athletes success and can be found at our sponsor Fleet Feet in Westlake Village. (tell them you're with the SVTC and they'll give you a discount) Girls should wear sport bras.

In addition, water and some form of a post workout snack such as a protein bar is good to have on-hand and with practices being in the late afternoon and early evening, your athlete should bring sweats.
